MARCHING BAND

Marching band includes all high school band students including the addition of color guard (which students may enroll in as a separate class).

The Buccaneer marching band experience begins as early as June with the annual Winthrop Days parade.  All high school students are expected to participate (unless excused prior to the parade rehearsal) and middle school students are welcome to join the parade to put to practice the techniques they have been practicing at the end of the school year.

High school marching band continues in August with a four day, evening band camp.  At band camp marching fundamentals are visited and reviewed, music taught, leadership enhanced, and bonds created and built upon.

Following band camp, daily rehearsals occur during the school day and weekly morning sectionals (color guard, percussion, brass, woodwind) are expected of students and go towards the students' trimester grade.  Mr. McBride highly believes that the quality of our rehearsal time will create a similar quality performance.

Marching band performances include all home football games in which the band will perform at pregame and half-time.  The drumline and band will also perform pep songs and/or grooves throughout the game to support our team!  This year, the Buccaneer marching band will also be traveling to the IHSMA State Marching Band Festival in which bands throughout the state are given a division rating.

Marching band at East Buchanan requires effort and motivation; however, it is a TON of fun.  The rewards and fun times with friends are experiences that will never be forgotten!
